Blowouts for BIG Hair – Tips

Professional Blowouts in Durham, NC + At Home Tips

The perfect hair blowout leaves you feeling great about yourself. It seems like every celebrity today has perfectly blown out hair and blow-out hair bars are popping up all over the place. There was even a television show called “Blowout”. At Beleza Couture Studio Express, we’ve elevated our hair blowouts to an art form at our hair studio in Durham, NC. Though we professionals really know what we’re doing with a hair dryer, that doesn’t mean you can’t achieve some beautiful results from home on days when you can’t come in and see us.

Why not try an at-home blow out on days when you can’t come visit? If you’re feeling adventurous and you’ve got a blow dryer, hair product and a round brush – you’ve got the tools you need to work on your hair at home. Expect your at home hair blow-out to take about 15 to 30 minutes, depending upon how thick and how long your hair is! Here’s our guide on to blowout your hair at home…Keep in mind that our tips are for entertainment purposes only.

  • Wash Your Hair!
Try not to over dry your hair with a towel but gently dry it by blotting with a towel to get rid of the dripping wetness. You don’t want your hair to be dry but you don’t want it to be drenched either!
  • Apply Product!
Using your favorite styling product – we recommend any of the hair products we sell here –  coat every single strand of your hair with it.  If your hair is dry, you can use a straightening balm , shine serum or a leave-in conditioner to coat your hair!
  • Divide & Conquer!
Divide your hair into sections using clips or elastics so that you can concentrate on one section at a time. Divide your hair into easy to manage sections – you can even form it into mini buns to keep it out of your way!
  • Use Your Fingers
Start by teasing your hair up with your fingers, holding it up and out while you hold the hair dryer and blow air toward your crown and then down to the tips.  Hold your hair as straight as possible to avoid possible frizzies!
  • Round Down
Next, trade your fingers in for a rounded brush.  Starting with the ends (because they dry faster), pull your hair around the brush and point the dryer down.
  • Keep Your Hair Taut As You Dry
Be sure to hold your hair as taut and tight as possible as you blast it with the hair dryer. This helps eliminate the frizzies too!
  • Cool Blast of Fresh Air
Here’s a great reason for the “cool” button on your hair dryer – it helps lock in your style. When you’re done with a section and before you move on, finish off with a blast of cool air.
  • Shine Serum
You can shop our product line here for a shine serum – it’s important to finish your at-home blowout with a super shiny, protective serum to make your hair look picture perfect!

There you have the basic steps. We offer lots of blowout options at our Durham, NC hair studio so if you’re looking for professional results, be sure to give us a call!
